Essential Oils for Wellness and Well Being
Bug Bite Relief
by Cheryl Fritsch-Middleton on June 7th, 2016

With the holiday weekend we, like many of you, were outside more than we are most of the time.  I made the mistake of not putting on my favorite bug spray (more on that another day) and got bug bites.  I whipped up this little blend that pretty much helped me forget those pesky bug bites were there:
10ml roller bottle
10 drops of peppermint essential oil
10 drops of lavender essential oil
10 drops of melaleuca (aka tea tree) essential oil
5 drops of frankincense essential oil
Top the bottle off with fractionated coconut oil (jojoba, hemp, or almond oil would be good as well)
Why these oils you ask?  Peppermint is cooling and sometimes those bites sting.  Lavender is soothing and great for itchy skin.  Melaleuca is great for skin irritations. Finally, Frankincense promotes healthy cellular function and is soothing.  I like to use fractionated coconut oil in these recipes for a carrier oil but you can use the carrier oil of your choice.
I used this blend a few times after the bites started to itch and really forgot they were there.
When you are using essential oils on your skin it is important to be sure you are using oils safe for topical use.  If you are interested in the essential oils I use please contact me.
