Essential Oils for Wellness and Well Being
The Verdict Is In....
by Cheryl Fritsch-Middleton on June 6th, 2015

I got called to do my civic duty a few weeks ago and was summoned to jury duty and was selected.  It was my first time being called much less seated on the jury.  To say I had no idea what was coming would be an understatement.  Don’t get me wrong I am so happy I could serve, it is our duty and quite honestly our privilege to be able to be part of the judicial system.  Yet, those were two long days.

You know me, I had my trusty Essential Oils with me and they were a lifesaver.  I started early the day I had to report – too early 4AM.  I had to be at the courthouse by 8:30 and I made it and got quite a bit of work for my day job done before I left home.  Boy was I was tired.  I grabbed the peppermint, put a few drops in my hands and took a few deep breaths through my hands.  I used peppermint to get my second, third, fourth, and fifth winds that day.

Peppermint is not the only oil I used, not by a long shot.  Of course I had lemon essential oil for my water with my trusty Hydro Flask (never use citrus essential oils in a plastic container).  I was glad I had the Hydro Flask with me I was able to get some ice and keep refilling all day rather than buying bottled waters.  The bottle of Protective Blend was the next thing out of my little oil case.  There were so many people under the weather and I knew my immune system needed some extra support.  I sure don’t have time for that.

Oh my aching head!  I think the attorneys were getting paid by spoken word count and therefore there was a lot of talking.  It was not long before I had tension building, I reached in my oil kit and got out my frankincense and put two drops under my tongue.  Now I know not everyone it comfortable using essential oils internally but I am with the essential oils I use.  Alternately, you could apply on the back of your neck, forehead, or temples.  Frankincense promotes general wellbeing.

During our first break one of the other jurors shared with me that she wanted to try my oils.  I pulled out my bottle of respiratory blend, put a drop on her hands, had her rub them together, and take a few deep breaths through her hands.  By the time I had refilled my water and added a few drops of lemon she was already telling the others how quickly the Essential Oil Blend helped her.  On that same break I had the Soothing Blend out to use on my knee that is still tender from a fall a few months ago that I aggravated the previous week at Relay for Life.  My knee was feeling better within a short time.

Over the next 4 hours all of those essential oils came out again.  It did not end there, I got home and finally got to bed I could not sleep, so I turned to Vetiver and was out in a few minutes.

The next day looked much of the same way and all the same essential oils came out to get me through the day Lemon, Peppermint, soothing blend, protective blend, and Frankincense.  Also, after all those hours in a very uncomfortable chair I turned to the massage blend, just two drops massaged into my shoulders helped my neck and shoulders and all of me feel better.  .
I had the respiratory blend out for myself during deliberations as I find it helps when my head feels cluttered.  More than one other jury member was using my digestive blend for stomach issues – we were all eating food we were not used to eating over those two days.

When the verdict was turned in and we were allowed to leave.  I left happy I was able to serve, glad it was over, and feeling like a wrung out washrag.  I know I stopped and picked up some dinner but I do not remember eating.  I do remember getting out the Bergamot for the diffuser and that gave me some energy to spend some time with my husband and stay awake until it got dark out.  I love Bergamot because it helps me relax and gives me endurance at the same time.

Now that it is all said and done the verdict is in - those sixteen little bottles in the case in my purse were found necessary for this trial.  I cannot imagine how I might have felt or what I might have come down with had I not had my oils to rely on.  They kept me going, cleared my head, took care of those occasional aches and pains, hydrated me, and supported my immune system.  I am always thankful that I found essential oils and was especially grateful when it came to this chapter.
